1. Add wallpaper to highlight architectural elements
As a renter, I want high style at an affordable price and with a temporary solution. For a temporary fix to applying wallpaper , my secret tip is to use permanent double sided tape.
Apply the tape as close to the edges for a seamless and precise hold. Measure and apply and voila…this wallpaper transformation is seamless. (pun intended)
Take a look at the architectural interest and how the basket organizes and adds texture while tying in the plush rug.
Chinoiserie style has become more than a trend and is found as a staple style in fabric print, ceramics, art, and even on walls.
I love the look of hand-painted de gournay walls, but the cost is prohibitive to say the very least. I have been on a search for similar wallpaper that gives off the same Chinoiserie chic look and luxurious feel that de Gournay delivers at a fraction of the cost. For years, I could not find anything that delivers this appeal…until I began working with Walls Republic.
To highlight the architectural details of my new home which was built in 1925, I opted for this gorgeous Chinoiserie style paper. This is the Van Gogh Almond Blossom print in tan. There are several other color choices but I opted for the colors in this print to tie in the rest of the fabrics, textures, and hues in my living room. I am in love with the print and was amazed to feel the high quality texture of the paper. I sent the dimensions of this area of the wall to walls republic and received the precise amount of paper to fulfill my desire to create a Chinoiserie chic focal point with wallpaper. The company provides free samples so you can get to know the look and feel of the products ahead of time.
Since the beginning of our partnership, I have worked with truly helpful, detail-oriented, and patient client service representatives. Now that I had found my gorgeous wallpaper, I planned the rest of the room’s design around this focal point. I suggest finding a print or pattern that uses many earth tone colors and then use these hues to decorate the rest of your room.
2. Incorporate a plush area rug
Find a plush rug to play up the texture and softness that creates that warm ambiance that is so important to achieve during the autumn months. Go easy with the patterns and choose something as simple as a geometric pattern or select a solid color shag rug. Don’t forget a rug pad for extra cushion. I found this oversized shag rug, called the Kate Rug, from Joss & Main that coordinated well with the wallpaper and decor.
3. Faux Fur
Faux fur is everywhere this year and I love the texture for the fall and winter months. I have a faux fur throw that is so soft and I stocked up on faux fur pillows. When they aren’t in use. I bundle them together in a rustic woven basket that I keep under the console table that rests in front of my wallpaper.
4. Gold accent Furniture and decor
From side tables to vases, gold accents are a brilliant way to tie your harvest hues together. The metallic sheen adds dimension to a room. Try mixing up rose and yellow gold accents and try to avoid going overboard. Just a few classic pieces will be noticeably chic without overdoing it…unless you are going for that Hollywood regency look (If so…have at it).
Finally, add velvet to your room to instantly create a cozy warmth that invites guests in to relax. Velvet immediately reminds me of the changing season and creates a whimsical feel of upcoming holiday decor while providing a luxurious layer of warmth as the first chill of fall rolls in. Try velvet trim pillows or velvet curtains for an immediate and luxurious transformation. You can easily color coordinate with this gorgeous textured wallpaper from walls republic just as I did with these velvet pillows.
